Extra, Extra: Art at Union Station, Dogs at Shelters, and Spite in the Neighbourhood

news

Every weekday?s end, we collect just about everything you ought to care about or ought not miss.

  • The cool art thing in the video above is apparently going to be installed at Union Station, as part of the ongoing renovations there.
  • Look out, Hazelton Lanes Whole Foods: Loblaw is getting into the urban health-food business. The Canadian grocery giant plans to pilot a new store, called Nutshell Live Life Well, at a location on King Street. It?s expected to open in fall.
  • Toronto Standard has an interview with a guy who spends his spare time maintaining a blog with photos of dogs up for adoption at Toronto Animal Services. We mention this mainly so we can link you to the blog, which is full of more than enough adorable pictures to get your weekend started right.
  • As you read this, city councillors and provincial politicians are busy looking for ways to mollify subway-loving Scarborough voters. What?s wrong with that? Over at Spacing, John Lorinc explains.
  • This story, about a guy who has lodged more than 60 bylaw complaints against his neighbours, does a great job of illustrating the role of spite in Toronto?s bylaw enforcement regime.
