Taos Eco Park Receives FIFA Certification | Mass Media Exposure

The Taos (NM) Eco Park has received a FIFA 2 Star Field Certification from the Federation Internationale de Football Association (FIFA), the world?s governing body for the sport of soccer. The Taos Eco Park is now the fourth FIFA 2 Star field installed in the United States, and the highest altitude FIFA 2 Star training facility in the world. Taos has long been known for its world class skiing, hiking and biking and now adds soccer to the list of outdoor opportunities. Located 7,000 feet above sea level, Taos Eco Park adds the unique attribute of high altitude training as a sports destination for soccer and many other sports including, but not limited to, American football, rugby and lacrosse, with Taos Mountain providing an incredible backdrop.

?This means teams from all over the world will be able to train at high altitude, on a FIFA certified field, in preparation for tournaments and to improve their team?s abilities,? said Joel Israel, Executive Director of the Taos Sports Alliance. ?If a team has a game in Mexico City, they?ll be able to come to Taos and train at 7,000 feet for two weeks of high altitude conditioning for their competition. FIFA is often considered the ?United Nations of Soccer? with 208 affiliated countries. The designation of a FIFA 2 Star Field Certification guarantees premium performance, consistency and safety of play based on the FIFA Quality Concept, respected internationally as the industry standard for artificial turf fields. This rating is designed specifically to mirror the playing characteristics of professional soccer. The new designation and the high altitude training component will make the field an attractive destination for teams regionally, nationally and even internationally.

Taos Eco Park is part of a multi-fold initiative by the Town of Taos to increase quality of life, while creating an economic driver for the region. The FIFA 2 Star Field Certification compliments the vision by Taos?s elected officials to become known as a sports and recreation destination, with a focus on youth sports participation to keep its region?s children healthy, happy and safe, in a world-class environment.

Taos Eco Park?s artificial turf system, manufactured by Shaw Sportexe, is constructed using a blend of grass-like fibers, special backing and a mix of sand and rubber infill, installed over compacted base and drainage layers. The end result of these system components mirrors the playing characteristics of a natural grass surface, allowing for Taos Eco Park to be used as a multi-sport training facility.

Programming for high altitude training at Taos Eco Park has already met the expectations of the Town for 2011. Reservations for use of the Taos Eco Park are quickly filling the master calendar with team training, sports camps and sports leagues from a wide variety of field sports, from youth programs up through the collegiate level of competition.

Pope removes Sicilian bishop from diocesan leadership : News ...

Bishop Francis Micciche of Trapani has been removed from office by Pope Benedict XVI, after an investigation triggered by reports of financial irregularities in the Sicilian diocese.

The Vatican announced on May 21 that the Pontiff has "removed Bishop Francesco Micciche from the pastoral care of the diocese of Trapani, Italy, and appointed Archbishop emeritus Alessandro Plotti of Pisa, Italy, as apostolic administrator." The official announcement provided no further details. However, Bishop Micciche had been the focus of an apostolic visitation last year, after local prosecutors uncovered missing funds in accounts managed by the Trapani diocese.'

Bishop Micciche told the faithful of Trapani that he would accept the Pope's decision, but insisted that the complaints against his leadership are "certainly false." The bishop said that his removal came "as a bolt from the blue," and said that he thought all questions about his financial affairs had been resolved. He complained that he had not been given an opportunity to see the results of the apostolic visitation of his diocese.

In a lengthy statement, Bishop Micciche said that he had been the victim of an "avalanche of slander." He suggested that a conspiracy may have been organized against him because he had dared the criticize the power of the Mafia and Masons in Sicily.

The removal of Bishop Micciche comes just over a year after Pope Benedict took a similar step, ousting Australian Bishop William Morris from his post heading the Toowoomba diocese. The Pope took action after Bishop Morris refused several Vatican requests for his resignation, prompted by concerns about his public statements on controversial questions such as the ordination of women and about his administration of the diocese.

From the beginning you have access to 13 characters in Mario Tennis Open on Nintendo 3DS, namely: Mario (All-Round), Luigi (All-Round), Peach (Technique), Daisy (Technique), Waluigi (Defense), Bowser (Power), Donkey Kong (Power), Wario (Power), Yoshi (Speed), Diddy Kong (Speed), Boo (Tricky), Bowser Jr. (Tricky), Mii (Custom). But there are also 4 hidden characters ? namely: Baby Peach (Tricky), Baby Mario (Speed), Luma (Technique), Dry Bowser (Defense) ? who can be unlocked by completing the following requirements in the sports game.

1. How to Unlock Baby Peach

To unlock Baby Peach (Tricky): You need to get to the third difficulty level in ?Ring Shot? Mode. Once the so-called Pro Rings difficulty is unlocked you have to complete it to get the new character unlocked. In it you must score at least 500 ring points within 3 minutes.

2. How to Unlock Baby Mario

To unlock Baby Mario (Speed): You have to finish Level 1-3 in ?Super Mario Tennis? Mode. In which you must get the ball to the goal before time runs out.

3. How to Unlock Luma

To unlock Luma (Technique): You need to get to the third difficulty level in ?Galaxy Rally? Mode. Once the so-called Superstar difficulty is unlocked you have to finish it to get the new character unlocked. In it you must complete a 100-hit rally with fewer than 3 misses.

4. How to Unlock Dry Bowser

To unlock Dry Bowser (Defense): You need to get to the third difficulty level in ?Ink Showdown? Mode. Once the so-called Inksplosion difficulty is unlocked you have to finish it to get the new character unlocked. In it you must score 30 times without letting your opponent return the ball.

Unlockable Courts

How to unlock extra courts: Additionally, there are 2 courts you can unlock in Mario Tennis Open by finishing the Star Open?s ?Final Cup?. To do that first complete the Mushroom, Flower, Banana & Champions Cups to get the Star Open. Finish it with a powered-up Star-version of the character (the ones you finished a Cup in the World Open with, indicated with a trophy on bottom of the character select screen) you play through it with, to get these courts unlocked:

#1. Crystal Court (in Galaxy Arena).
#2. Morph Court (in Galaxy Arena).

How to unlock extra costumes for your Mii character: Club Nintendo has given out a QR Code (shown above) to give you the secret Yoshi Costumes for your Mii. Above is the green Yoshi suit, and right below it is the blue Yoshi suit?s QR Code.

To unlock them, take these steps:
A) Use Mario Tennis Open?s hidden QR Reader by going to the Main Menu?s File Select screen. Once there: Hold up on the Directional control-pad and press the Start button. This will activate your 3DS camera?s QR Reader to scan your QR Code with.
B) Now line up your camera with the QR Code above until it fills your 3DS?s top screen. Then your 3DS system will automatically recognize the Yoshi Costume and add it to the game!

Company Law - Understanding the 2012 Finance Bill | Banking ...

Announced on March 29th 2012, The longest Finance Bill passed in 20 years runs to over 600 pages and includes some notable changes to existing laws. Key changes include alterations to corporation tasks, adjustments to personal allowance, and new regulations for investment, enterprise and non domiciled tax rates. At the same time, tax credits for working parents will experience changes in eligibility for 2012-2013. The new Finance Bill will consequently increase taxation in some areas while cutting back in others, and encourages investment for a down economy.

As part of the 2012 Budget, the Finance Bill is set to continue policies for fiscally neutral changes, with investment opportunities increased and corporation tux cut. Income tax cuts from 50p to 45p will also produce very little changes. Moreover, tax relief for pensioners will roughly stay at 2011-2012 rates.

Key Points:

One of the major taxation changes will be a reduction in Corporation Tax to 24%, with expectations of continuing cuts over time at a rate of 1%. Small and medium enterprises will also be encouraged to claim tax exemptions by deducting expenditure in research and development, although tax repayments on failed research programs will also rise.

In terms of the coalition government?s wider privatisation policies, Enterprise Investment Schemes and Venture Capital Trusts will allow for increased investment in businesses, as well as income tax deductions and reductions on capital gains tax for investments in new enterprises.

Capital allowances will also be enhanced, as long as expenditure comes under Enterprise Zone terms and condition, and will apply on key ares from the 1st April 2012 to the 31st March 2017. Capital Gains tax will also be subject to new Extra Statutory Concessions, particularly when winding up companies.

National Insurance and Income Tax

National insurance contributions will be frozen at current rates, while a basic personal allowance will be increased by ?630 to 38,105.
Personal investments in ISAs will also be increased to a maximum of ?11,280, with ?5,640 allowed in cash. Non domiciles will also face a remittance basis charge of ?50,000 if they have been resident for twelve of the previous fourteen years of a tax charge. Inheritance tax is also changing, with a 36% tax rate now set to apply to estates which leave 10% of an estate to charity.

Tax Credits

Inflationary increases will affect benefits, but family tax credits and child tax credits face new income limits. Child benefit will be removed for claimants with a net income of between ?50,000 and ?60,000 from January 2013. New rules mean that joint working hours need to be at least 24 hours a week to quality, with one person working 16 hours a week. If this does not apply, a Working Tax Credit will be withdrawn, albeit with exceptions for personal circumstances.

VAT

Registration thresholds for VAT are now set to rise to ?77,000 from April 1st, with a deregistration threshold coming to ?75,000. Companies will now have to file their returns online, and will be subject to new rules on salary sacrifice schemes and low value item imports.

Rumored iPhone 5 parts show new layout, micro dock

Another supposed part leak from Apple's next generation iPhone 5 has shown up online. The component is listed as a headphone jack/earpiece/Wi-fi antenna. The iPhone 4S and iPhone 4 parts are grouped a bit differently -- but that's not what we find interesting. If this is indeed a part from the next generation iPhone, I don't think what it's listed as is what we're actually looking at.?I think it's possible we're looking at Apple's new micro dock connector, the one iMore first reported on back in February.

Panasonic sends 100,000 LEDs down Tokyo river, mates tech with tradition (updated with video!)

If you'd been by the shore of the Sumida River in central Tokyo this past weekend, you would have noticed that it was glowing a distinct shade of blue. That's because Panasonic decided to kick off the first-ever Tokyo Hotaru (fireflies) festival by sending 100,000 EVERLED light bulbs down the river, both to mimic fireflies as well as to pay homage to a Japanese tradition of floating candles on the water. Before you cringe too much at the thought of the environmental impact, rest assured that Panasonic minimized the footprint of its aquatic LED parade. All the bulbs ran on solar power (presumably, charged during the day) that kept Evolta batteries fed inside, and the entire lot was scooped up in a large net afterwards. We love the exhibition as a large-scale demo of sustainable lighting -- you may just want to avoid fishing along the Sumida's shoreline for awhile in case you catch a straggler.

HP refreshes its ProBook laptops for small businesses

HP's already outed a bunch of business laptops today, but so far they've all been at the enterprise level, the sort of thing an IT manager would deploy on the order of thousands. But while it was at it the company also refreshed its ProBook lineup for small businesses -- the sort of operations that likely don't have an IT department running the show. For those folks, there's the refreshed b- and s-series. Starting with the "b" lineup, it includes 14- and 15.6-inch models (the 6470b and 6570b), which have a magnesium-reinforced chassis with a coating designed to resist scratches and other signs of wear. Users can choose between integrated and discrete graphics, while the 14-inch version, at least, will be offered with Intel and AMD chips. (The 15-incher is Intel-only.) Other perks include Intel's vPro management technology, HP 3D DriveGuard and optional 3G / 4G connectivity. The Intel-based models will start at $769, while the AMD-based 6475b will go for $669 and up. Expect these to land on June 4th. Meanwhile, the s-series (pictured) is available in a wider range of sizes (13, 14, 15 and 17 inches), with a mix of Intel and AMD chips. The existing s-series has also gotten a redesign, with aluminum casing and a spill-resistant keyboard. These laptops, too, will arrive June 4th, though they're slated to start at a lower price of $589.

Samsung Galaxy S III gets a Canadian girlfriend as Bell, Rogers, Telus, Wind Mobile line up

If you live north of the 49th parallel, you're no doubt frustrated that Samsung teased a summer launch for the Galaxy S III in North America but made no initial mention of its Canadian plans. Don't fret, as virtually every Canadian carrier and its mother has now pledged to carry the giant Android 4.0 smartphone while you're on your summer vacation -- the first carrier commitments in North America that we've seen. Bell, Rogers, Telus, Virgin Mobile and Wind Mobile have all stepped up as national providers, while regional carriers such as SaskTel and Videotron have also signed on. The Galaxy S III is a special milestone for Virgin, as it's the first 4G LTE phone on the Bell-run budget network. We're still waiting for Mobilicity and other cellular services to hop on the Galaxy S III bandwagon, and details like pricing and exact ship dates are still elusive, but odds are that Canucks will have a wide choice of carriers when the 4.8-inch flagship hits stores.
